Monday Jan. 25th – 3.1 miles

I woke up this morning at 5am with the dog jumping on my bed with excitement. I stumbled downstairs to let her outside. I was pleasantly surprised how warm it was. It literally felt like a spring morning I had to check the temperature just to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. It was 46 degrees. If I wasn’t in such a Nyquil haze I would have been smart enough to go get on some running gear and get a start to my morning. Instead the dog and I crawled back into bed.
By the time I left for work at 7:30 the temperature had dropped to about 42 degrees, and it had started raining. I was already kicking myself for not running this morning.
Then at lunch time the temperature had dropped to 38 degrees accompanied by 19mph winds. Kicking myself again!!
Leaving work at 5pm temperature was at 34 degrees …. Kicking myself for a third time today!!!
Finally starting my run at 630pm when it is 33 degrees and light flurries. Saying to myself “I told you so” at this point just makes matters worse.
I haven’t quite mastered dressing in the appropriate layers for a cold run. I tend to over dress every time. I have noticed with the help of Dave (thanks Dave!!) that my running gear lacks much color. Everything is either black or pink!! But black is slimming right?!?!?!?! Then I remembered … I had a bright neon green shirt. I ran a 5k on Thanksgiving morning and the shirt that came with registration was this annoyingly neon green shirt. It is a complete understatement to classify this shirt as just bright, I do believe I can be seen from 5 miles away. I never imagined I would ever wear this, but to show Dave I can add color to my running gear I wore it. I do believe I blinded the dog in the process.
