Spring is around the corner!!

This weekend was a true testament that spring is around the corner. I can see grass spots in the back yard, and the sun has been out for 3 days straight. The group run was cancelled this Saturday so Kelli arranged a buddy run at Sand Run on Sunday. I used to walk at Sand Run all the time when I lived in the valley. I forgot how pretty it was even in the winter time. The sun was out in full force and it was much warmer then the normal group runs. I decided not to wear my hat or fleece head band and that was the right decision. I kept the gloves and half way through wished I had left them in the car with my hat.

The route was 6 miles and was the most difficult leg of the Akron Marathon. I had heard many people talk about the Sand Run leg of the Marathon, and I am proud to say I have done it now. The bad thing about the course was it was mostly up hill the first half. On the other hand, the good part was the final 3 miles back to the car was down hill.

When we started our run the trail had ice patches on it, but then it started to get a little messy. By the end of the run we all had mud splattered up the back of our legs. All and all it was fun. We talked about fundraising ideas and what we needed to do to make sure everyone met their goal.

We received our recommitment packets last week. The packet asked us to confirm we will have met our fundraising goals by April 30th or we pay the amount that is left. I do think I started to hyper ventilate at first when I read it, but I think I will be ok. We have our big scotch doubles fundraiser in a couple weeks and I hope it will be a HUGE success. If we do as well as I hope I will either meet my goal that night or come really close to it. If not, I do have some back up ideas just in case. Also a couple of us from the buddy run decided that we are going to do a guest bartending night at the Barley House in Akron for a fundraiser. Everyone decided if at that point we have met our goal and others haven’t the money will be split between those that need it first.

I also think I may highlight a fundraising weekend on my website. Anyone that donates $25 on the given weekend will be put in a drawling for a gift card of some sort. Brittany did that on her fundraising page this weekend, and as long as she doesn’t mind me stealing the idea I will do it.

I hear the weather is supposed to be in the 50’s tomorrow so I may need to log some more miles. I just can’t say no to this nice weather it is much nicer to run when the sun is out instead of running in the snow!!!
